LAND ROVER EVOQUE LAUNCH LIVERPOOL
THIS LAUNCH SAW JOURNALISTS DRIVING THE BRAND-NEW RANGE ROVER EVOQUE THROUGH AN OLD DISUSED AND FLOODED STEAM TRAIN TUNNEL THAT RUNS UNDERNEATH LIVERPOOL FROM LIME ST STATION TO THE DOCKS. ONCE AT THE DOCKS THE CARS DROVE ALONG A SUBMERGED ROADWAY IN DUKES DOCKS TO HIGHLIGHT THE WADE CAPABILITY OF THE CAR.

Land Rover turned to D3 to find a solution of how to create a submerged road that was stable and safe enough for journalists to drive along yet could also cope with the changing water level caused by the opening and closing of the dock gates. Working closely with our engineering partners, we designed the causeway by using ex-military pontoons mounted with bespoke hydraulic legs that were strong enough to withstand the dynamic loads of the vehicle and water as well as having the capability of adjusting its vertical range. This ensured the depth of water the vehicle drove through remained constant. From the initial engineering designs, method statements and risk assessments we built and managed this stunt that created a huge story for Land Rover amongst the motoring press…and no-one got wet!
